The West Philly Coalition for Neighborhood Schools (WPCNS) is excited to announce the launch of its Naming Campaign for the Greening Lea project! Greening Lea’s earlier projects – the 2012 planting bed addition, and the 2014 playground expansion have already had a tremendous impact on the play yard’s use by Lea students during the school day as well as neighborhood families in the evenings and weekends. With your help, WPCNS can continue to transform the Lea School’s asphalt yard into an active and sustainable school and community space.

2011 2015

WPCNS has a set a Naming Campaign goal of $100,000 of community support by June 1 15, 2015. Items for naming start with a 4”x8” brick for $100 ($50 for Lea family and staff) all the way up to the new gateway at 47th and Spruce to welcome the community and establish the schoolyard as the primary student entrance. Customized naming options include your family name, the name of a loved one, a brief message, or your company name and/or logo.

The summer 2015 Greening Lea construction will include new green stormwater infrastructure in the form of permeable brick pavers, large shade trees, and lush rain gardens. The basketball court will be rotated, repaved, and new hoops will be installed. With donor support, construction will also include a handsome metal enclosure to conceal the school’s dumpsters, and places to sit and enjoy the schoolyard.
